“Deep in Dallas”, or just Dallas for short, was one of the first horses to follow God’s path at the Dare to Dream Youth ranch. This 25-year young Mare and retired race horse, lived close to her owner, and strengthened our character every day while living on our ranch.
Her life continued to be an adventure. She has traveled, and seen more of our country’s beauty than the average human, making new friends, and enriching lives around her. Dallas came to the Dare to Dream Youth Ranch in 2005 and God’s work from day one.
Dallas is a “maverick”, a loner of her own creation, the embodiment of individuality and self-confidence that breeds success in today’s changing world. Stubborn and set in her ways, she was not without a gentle side. Dallas loved children! Dallas provided comfort to the young and old. Dallas never met a stranger once you were introduced to her you became her friend for life. As her eyesight was taken from her she did not slow down for long. Her inner strength and determination kept her moving forward and loving everyone around her. Dallas loved to play with the other horses and always enjoyed her treats.
One of the last events at the ranch in October Dallas was the chosen horse for grooming. Thirty plus children with autism came to the ranch that Saturday and the children wanted to groom Dallas and give her love. Dallas stood there for hours and accepted each child’s love and care without a second thought. The beauty of the relationship was that most of these children had never been introduced to a horse and yet when they met Dallas it was like they had been friends for life. The children showered her with Love and Dallas gave that Love right back to each and every one of them.
We know that you will be running and jumping around heaven with out any pain at all in Heaven. You have touched a lot of lives while working at the Dare to Dream Youth Ranch.
Horses change lives. They give our young people confidence and self-esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls. They give us hope!
Memorials are being accepted for Dallas. Your generous donations will be used to help the ranch further its education of horses for disadvantaged children, horse camps and programs. Dare to Dream Youth Ranch is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
